Finding a fair rate from a fair and reasonable talent is essential for a healthy client/talent relationship. Clients want someone to bring quality and strength to their projects but, they don’t want to break the bank with unnecessary fees or exorbitant prices. For the talent, they often have to find the proper balance between passion and fair compensation and be willing to work with a client to negotiate a fair price based on the specifics of their project and budget. That’s why my rates for voiceover are based on the established industry standard non-union rates cited by The Global Voice Acting Academy. Professional non-union voiceover talents have created these industry rates over time in cooperation with clients and producers and have further adjusted these rates based off of those officially disclosed and agreed upon by the acting union SAG-AFTRA.

In other words, these rates set the standard for what’s considered fair compensation for voiceover services. Every project and every client is unique which requires its own unique quote. There is no true, “one size fits all” quote for all projects. Otherwise, I would freely put it down here for your convenience. Voiceover quotes are often based off of the word count or per finished minutes of a project, per hour of session time, or even per episode for an animated show. Voice actors have a minimum session fee which is the minimum amount of compensation they would require to record for a project. Since the going rate for one hour of studio time in the United States is around $150, it would be rare to find many professional voiceover talents work for less than $100 minimum. Those that do are often working on extremely low budget projects, passion projects, or simply projects for “exposure” and may not be the best professional choice for you.
